07/23/2008 - Blackburn, England (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Blackburn Rovers have reportedly accepted an offer of $4 million from Aston Villa for veteran American goalkeeper Brad Friedel.
The 37-year-old had said last week that he was keen to end his eight-year association with Rovers.
Manchester City had also been linked with Friedel but Villa now appear favorites to land the former Liverpool shot-stopper.
Scott Carson had been Martin O'Neill's first-choice keeper last season but he has now signed for West Brom and Villa currently have only Thomas Sorensen and Stuart Taylor on their books.
O'Neill has also agreed a deal to bring another American keeper, Brad Guzan, to Villa Park, subject to the 23-year-old receiving a work permit.
Friedel signed a new two-year Ewood Park contract in February, but Rovers chairman John Williams had told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph last week:
"We've had two bids for Brad, despite my insistence to the clubs concerned we didn't want them. They've been rejected.
"When Brad told us he wanted to leave, it was a bolt out of the blue. He'd only signed his latest contract back in February and a replacement keeper hasn't even been on our radar."

MySportsbook.com Posts Heisman Trophy Odds
With 3,919 passing yards, 32 touchdowns and a mere seven interceptions last season, combined with a powerful South Bend Heisman legacy, odds makers at MySportsbook.com have given Notre Dame senior quarterback Brady Quinn the best Heisman Trophy odds at 5-2.
Quinn isn’t the only big man on campus this season. Oklahoma junior running back and 2004 Heisman runner-up Adrian Peterson, listed at 7-2, rushed for a combined 3,033 yards in his first two years as a college player and will give Quinn a run for his money.
This online sportsbook has also listed Troy Smith, Ohio State senior quarterback, as another strong favorite to win the 72nd Heisman Trophy. A 7-1 bet, Smith threw for 2,282 yards last season and also led the Buckeyes to a convincing 34-20 victory over Quinn and the Fighting Irish in last season’s Fiesta Bowl.
Current betting odds Heisman trophy are:
