11/28/2008 - Glasgow, Scotland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Celtic's 2-1 loss to AaB on Tuesday eliminated the club from European competition, and after suffering such a bitter defeat, manager Gordon Strachan is still searching for answers.
"I can't really explain what happened," Strachan said of the team's loss to AaB. "It's hard to criticize the players after they produced a performance like that.
"Our inability to keep cleans sheets away from home has been our downfall and until we get that sorted, results like that are possible. It didn't look possible, but it happened."
Barry Robson put Celtic ahead in the 53rd minute, but the Danish side came back with a goal from Lucas Caca in the 73rd minute and then a crushing own- goal from Celtic's Gary Caldwell with three minutes to play.
"We were in control, we created chances but then they found themselves having to listen to people singing and dancing after winning a game of football," Strachan said of his players.
Now, the Hoops must pull themselves together for a home contest against eighth-place Inverness as they turn their attention back to the league.
A win on Saturday would be Celtic's 12th straight in league play and the club will also look to extend its four-point lead at the top of the table.
"We'll now go and try to win the league again," said midfielder Paul Hartley. "We've got a great bunch of players at Celtic, a great manager and great coaching staff. The fans are great as well.
"It's a defeat and you have to get over it. We lost to Rangers earlier in the season and we got over it. There was criticism then, but we went on to win 11 games on the trot. We're determined to retain this title."
Rangers has once again emerged as the chief rival in Celtic's title chase, and Gers will look to keep pace with a win at third-place Hearts, while Dundee United, which sits in fourth place, travels to St Mirren, middle-of-the-table sides Aberdeen and Motherwell square off at Pittodrie Stadium, Hibernian invades Falkirk and last-place Hamilton entertains Kilmarnock.
