11/28/2008 - Melbourne, Australia (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Tim Clark posted a two-under 70 on Friday to take sole possession of the lead after the second round of the Australian Masters.
Clark finished two rounds at seven-under-par 137 and is one shot clear at Huntingdale Golf Club.
Michael Sim (66) and Anthony Summers (68) share second place at six-under 138.
Robert Allenby (66), Jamie Donaldson (67), Dave Horsey (68), Rod Pampling (68), Aaron Townsend (64), Steve Webster (68) and Michael Wright (70) are tied for fourth place at minus-five.
The first round was completed on Friday after a lightning storm halted play for three hours on Thursday. Conditions were much easier on Friday and the entire field completed play on time.
Clark was one of the co-leaders when first-round play was halted on Thursday. In much easier conditions on Friday, Clark did not do much to take first, but it was enough.
Clark began the second round on the back nine and immediately rattled off nine consecutive pars to start play. That kept Clark near the top of the leaderboard, but steady golf moved him in front.
At the first, Clark rolled in an eight-footer for birdie. That got him to six- under par for the championship and he joined Summers in first. Clark birdied the par-five sixth hole and found himself alone in the lead after late miscues from Summers.
"I had a lot more birdie chances and with the greens being softer it was easier to get it closer, and I just didn't make anything," said Clark, who is the third-highest-ranked player in the field behind Allenby and Stuart Appleby. "I made one putt of about eight feet for birdie on No.1 which was my back nine, and that was it all day."
Clark is a three-time winner on the European Tour, but has to yet to visit the winner's circle on the PGA Tour. His first competitive trip to Australia could yield victory No. 4 on the European Tour.
"I left a lot out there on the greens, but I'm still in a great position," said Clark. "It seems like it's going to be quite bunched up with how the course is playing so really it's about playing four solid rounds and really, this isn't going to set me back."
Summers was in first place until bogeys at the 16th, a hole he birdied in round one, and the closing hole.
"It could have been really good out there," admitted Summers. "When I hit a bad one, I got away with it, and when I hit the good ones I made the most of them, so it was a good day. I get to play the weekend, that's a great bonus."
Sim was flawless on Friday with three birdies on each of his nines.
"I'm putting the ball well and I'm hitting a lot of greens so as long as I can keep it going, it will be an exciting weekend," said Sim.
The 36-hole cut fell at one-over 145 and two high-profile performers will miss the weekend.
Stuart Appleby carded his second two-over 74 in as many rounds for a two-round total of four-over 148.
John Daly only managed a one-over 73 on Friday and finished 36 holes at plus- five.
"I had a couple of eagle opportunities and hit horrible putts, three-putted one of them," Daly said. "When you don't putt good, it's not much fun, it's tough. I had opportunities today and they just didn't fall."

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the NASCAR Sprint Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting lines on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
