Dementieva cruises past Mauresmo to reach Luxembourg semis

10/24/2008 - Luxembourg, Luxembourg (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Olympic gold medalist Elena Dementieva was dominant Friday in reaching the semifinals of the $225,000 Luxembourg Championships.

The top-seeded Dementieva, of Russia, needed just 58 minutes to slip past former world No. 1 Amelie Mauresmo, 6-4, 6-0, converting 5-of-8 break points while only losing serve once.

Her opponent in the next round will be eighth-seeded Romanian Sorana Cirstea, who bested third-seeded Slovakian Daniela Hantuchova, last year's runner-up to Serbian star Ana Ivanovic, 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.

Sixth-seeded Na Li of China was also a quarterfinal winner over Czech Iveta Benesova in a three-set battle 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 that lasted two hours, 10 minutes.

Li will meet fourth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark in the other semifinal after Wozniacki defeated seventh-seeded Spaniard Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-1, 7-6 (9-7).

The 2008 Luxembourg titlist will pocket $35,000.
